“They stopped it from going into China, the rest of China. Wuhan and they stopped it, but they didn't stop it from going out to the world, that includes us and Europe and every other place, 188 countries, they didn't.”

We have not included many times when Trump said China could have stopped the virus -- a debatable point -- but he claims the Chinese government "stopped it from coming into China" which doesn't make a lot of sense because it started in China. Officials did not stop the coronavirus from spreading from Wuhan, where it originated, to other parts of China. China had more than 90,000 cases of covid-19 and more than 4,700 deaths as of October 2020. "Despite being the first place to be hit by COVID-19, China was well-placed to tackle the disease. It has a centralised epidemic response system. Most Chinese adults remember SARS-CoV and the high mortality rate that was associated with it," according to the Lancet medical journal.
